Privacy Policy — Countia

Last updated: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Countia (“the App”) handles information. We designed Countia to work without an account and without collecting personal data — this policy tells you exactly what that means in practice.

1. Summary

  • No account, no personal data collection. Countia does not require you to sign up, log in, or provide any personal information, and we do not operate a server that receives your data.
  • Your days stay on your device. The countdowns and events you add are stored locally on your device only.
  • Template content is downloaded, not uploaded. To show you up-to-date exam and holiday dates, the App downloads a small content file from our remote service. This is a read-only request — it does not send your identity, your device ID, or anything you’ve added in the App.
  • Advertising uses a third party. If you haven’t subscribed to remove ads, Google AdMob shows ads in the App and may process advertising identifiers as described in Section 3.
  • Subscriptions are handled by Apple/Google. We never see or store your payment details.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information (there is no account);
  • The days, titles, or dates you add to your list;
  • Your precise or approximate location;
  • Contacts, photos, or other device data unrelated to the App’s function.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Countia’s free tier is supported by ads served through Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service. AdMob may collect and process technical and advertising identifiers (such as your device’s advertising ID) to show ads, including personalized ads where permitted, and to measure ad performance. This processing is governed by Google’s own privacy and advertising policies:

Where required by applicable law (for example under GDPR in the EU/EEA/UK, or CCPA/CPRA in California), the App will request your consent or provide opt-out controls for personalized advertising before ads are shown, using an appropriate consent mechanism.

No ads are shown while you are adding, editing, or organizing your days.

4. Template content service

The App downloads country-specific date templates (exams, national holidays, cultural and religious observances) from a remote content endpoint we operate. This request:

  • Does not require or send any account or personal identifier;
  • Only transmits standard, anonymous technical request metadata (such as your IP address as part of any internet request, which our hosting provider may log for security/operational purposes and which we do not use to identify you individually);
  • Is used solely to keep template content current without requiring an app update.

If your device is offline, the App uses a bundled copy of this content instead.

5. Subscriptions and payment

If you choose to subscribe to remove ads, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We do not receive, see, or store your payment card details. Apple/Google may share with us a non-identifying confirmation that a valid purchase exists, which the App uses to enable the ad-free experience.

6. Data storage and retention

Your events, settings, and preferences are stored locally in the App’s storage on your device. This data is removed when you delete the App. We do not retain a copy anywhere else, because we never receive it.

7. Children’s privacy

Countia is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App does not collect personal data or require an account, this risk is structurally minimized; if you believe a child has provided us with personal information through channels outside the App (such as contacting us by email), please reach out using the contact information below so we can address it.

8. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Because Countia does not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is generally no personal data held by us for you to access, correct, or delete. Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA) gives you rights regarding data processed by third parties on our behalf (such as AdMob), you can exercise those rights directly with Google using the links in Section 3, or contact us and we will assist where we are able to.

If you are in the EU/EEA/UK and have concerns we haven’t resolved, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. International use

Countia is available globally. Because the App itself does not transmit personal data to us, there is no cross-border transfer of your personal data by us to worry about. Advertising and hosting providers we use (such as Google) may process limited technical data as described above, in accordance with their own international transfer safeguards.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features (such as additional in-app purchase options) or legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
